“The Netherlands-based producer draws on the otherworldly sounds of experimental instruments to sculpt a gently haphazard ambient mirage” – PITCHFORK
“Jonny Nash presents his sixth solo album, a “personal folk” album that blurs discernible songs into ghostly, dream pop memories, coming across like Durutti Column, Brian Eno or Grouper” – BOOMKAT
“Nash’s music moves at gentle speeds: deep breaths, cactus blooms, snails amid the morning dew” – RESIDENT ADVISOR
Jonny Nash is Netherlands-based British musician who has been crafting his unique form of ‘ambient folk music’ for over a decade.
Nash emerged as one of the key artists in the new wave of ambient music in the mid 2010’s. With the launch of his label Melody As Truth in 2014, he released a run of solo records alongside collaborations with likeminded soul and studio-partner Suzanne Kraft; records which cemented the sound of Nash’s contemplative, spacious yet melodic ambient music.
Nash is also closely connected to Dutch label Music from Memory; beyond his solo works, he is known as part of the group Gaussian Curve, a collaboration with Italian ambient luminary Gigi Masin and Dutch producer Dutch producer Young Marco. Their two albums, especially the debut Clouds, have achieved classic status within the genre.
Following the release of his album ‘Make A Wilderness’ on Music From Memory in 2019, Nash entered a fruitful period of collaboration, venturing into the realms of folk and acoustic music. Works during this period include the 2020 album Poe in collaboration with Indonesian Tarawangsa player Teguh Permana, and the 2021 release There Up, Behind The Moon , which features reimagined Romanian carols created in partnership with artist Ana Stamp.
In 2023, Nash released his sixth solo album, Point of Entry, an exploration of a “personal folk style” built on harmonising acoustic folk and ambient music. Currently, he is in the creative process of crafting a new album slated for release in mid 2025.
Aside from his activities as a producer, Nash is a regular live performer and has toured his solo live show all over the world. He has also worked on a variety of audio-visual projects, including a 2019 installation with Japanese artist Yoshirotten, and an appearance at the Venice Biennale alongside Xavier Veihlan. Recently, he collaborated with Tomo Katsurada of Kikagaku Moyo, contributing to Katsuraga’s live performance, which debuted at the Tokyo Art Book Fair in 2024.
